In July of 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, my 3-year-old Lab was suffering from severe gastrointestinal upset. … We were fortunate to be seen by Dr. Merrianne Burtch, a Canine Internal Medicine Specialist. Dr. Burtch performed an ultrasound and an endoscopy on my dog, Curry. Dr. Burtch was suspicious of the stomach tissue, and biopsies were taken from the tissue in my dog’s intestine, and a peach pit was even removed from her stomach.

Ultimately, my dog was diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Dr. Burtch immediately formulated a treatment plan for my dog, all the while taking into consideration Curry’s other medical issues and allergies to medication.

Fast forward to December 2021, and Curry is healthy, happy, and doing extremely well. She will always have IBD, but due to Dr. Burtch’s knowledge and expertise, Curry should live a long and happy life. Dr. Burtch has continued to care for my dog and provide support and a calming influence for me during the occasional flare-ups that my dog experiences. I highly recommend Dr. Burtch for any Internal Medicine issues for your pet.

Based on personal experience, I can honestly say there are veterinarians and then there is Dr. Merrianne Burtch.

She has been the vet for our beloved feline family members for almost 30 years….starting when she was an intern. At one time, our feline family members numbered 9. Dr. Burtch has been there with us through it all: various cancers, chemotherapy, diabetes, kidney failure, fatty liver disease, and more.

She is an expert at diagnosis and treatment. She has been caring and understanding with our felines and us as well. Dr. Burtch has never taken offense to my doing my own research and presenting questions as to why she prefers a particular therapy over another. And she has trusted that we were capable of hospice treatment as the need arose. She has been with us on our path with our feline companions, never talking down to us or dismissing our concerns.

Dr. Burtch has helped us care for our cats for nearly five years. We are very grateful for her expertise, her compassion, and her empathy–both toward our cats and us. She is very kind and cares deeply about providing the best medical care for the overall health of the animals she treats.

One way she shows this is by carefully and clearly explaining our cats’ health conditions and treatment plans. This way, we understand what we need to do and what to look for so we can let her know if a problem develops. She is incredibly smart and has a lot of experience treating difficult cases. Our cats and we have benefited greatly from her talents, and we are so glad she will continue to provide care through her new consulting practice.
